Reading is an important requirement for social emancipation, the development of critical thinking, and the promotion of citizenship. With this in mind, last Wednesday (21), Flamengo visited the Anchieta region, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, with the project "Come read, come read, come read!", an initiative resulting from the partnership between the club's Social Responsibility department and the Flamengo Museum's Education department. The event took place at the Casa Amarela community library and brought together around 50 children and young people from the region.

 

Through the "Come read, come read, come read!" project, Flamengo visits community libraries and cultural facilities in peripheral areas, offering storytelling activities, quizzes, and book donations to children and adolescents. The goal is to awaken a love of reading, foster greater connection between children and books, and contribute to the transformation of community libraries into spaces for culture, learning, and leisure. During the event, the children and young people present received backpacks, cups, and copies of the books "Mengão do Meu Coração" and "Me Arrebata – Epopéias Rubro-negras Volume 1," both published by Onze Cultural, a project supporter. 

 

"I think it's crucial that football clubs use this strong brand to promote positive things in society. Encouraging children to study, to explore culture... Congratulations to Flamengo, our doors are open to you," said Pedro Gerolimich, Master of Education and Founder of the Casa Amarela community library. 

 

Over the next few months, the "Come read, come read, come read!" project will be available in other community libraries in the city.
