Access to reading is a powerful tool for empowering individuals, providing them with knowledge and information essential to reducing social inequalities. To address this issue, the project "Come read, come read, come read!" was created by the Social Responsibility and Education departments of the Flamengo Museum. The purpose is to visit community libraries and cultural facilities in peripheral areas, offering storytelling activities, quizzes, and book donations for children and adolescents. The goal is to awaken a love of reading, enable greater connection between children and books, and contribute to the transformation of community libraries into spaces for culture, learning, and leisure.

Thus, last Friday (17), the project “Come read, come read, come read!” was present at Morro da Matriz, in Engenho Novo, North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, at the headquarters of the ESAC Community Library – Social Space for Learning and Coexistence, created in 2018, based on the need for school reinforcement that children in the region presented. 

"I wanted to thank Flamengo for coming here today and doing these activities with the children because it broadens their horizons and we really need people from outside coming here so the children can begin to see a world outside the community," said Gisele Rodrigues, educator and founder of ESAC. 

About 40 children between the ages of 7 and 12 participated in the event. Everyone received backpacks, cups, and books. Over the coming months, the "Come Read, Come Read, Come Read!" project will be available at other community libraries in the city.
