On World Environment Day, Flamengo held the "Rubro-Negra Inclusion" event at the rowing club's headquarters, focusing on social inclusion for children with disabilities. Around 50 children and their guardians attended and enjoyed a morning filled with outdoor activities, adapted games, educational activities, and boat and pedal boat rides around the lagoon. At the vegetable garden workshop, children and their families received vegetable seedlings. The excitement was guaranteed by the presence of Binho, Flamengo's mascot, and Paralympic rower Michel Pessanha, who interacted with and signed autographs for the children.
Combining inclusion and environmental education, the event's objective was to promote a space for interactivity and outdoor leisure, combating the invisibility and social exclusion to which these people are often subjected.
"We see our children able to play, able to do whatever they want without anyone looking at them with discrimination, without anyone looking at them differently... they feel welcomed, they feel good. Everything was wonderful! From the entrance, the workshops, the games, the picnic... our word is Gratitude," said Patricia Affonso Costa, mother of 8-year-old Davi Affonso Costa, who attended the event.
At the Gávea headquarters, children and families learned about the history of the Mais Querido through an educational tour guided by the Flamengo Museum's Educational Department. Also present at the event were teams from the Fire Department and CEMADEM (National Center for Monitoring and Alerting Natural Disasters), who participated with educational workshops and provided information of public interest.
The "Rubro-Negra Inclusion" event is the result of a partnership between the CRF (National Football Federation), through its Rowing and Social Responsibility Departments, and the Sports for the Planet Institute, founded by Cláudia and Kátia Alencar, former award-winning athletes for Flamengo. The event also benefited from the participation of volunteers and the support of Hortifruti (Flamengo Fruit Shop), Talho Capixaba (Capixaba Butcher Shop), Vó Alzira's Cake Factory, the Organic Canteen, the Sausage Gang, Klein Pedal Boats, Bruno Rego's Adapted Playful Activities, and the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon Fishermen's Colony.
