Flamengo, through the Department of Social Responsibility, carried out this Wednesday (04), an action to distribute blankets and warm clothes to homeless people in downtown Rio. The action took place in partnership with the Human Rights Defense Center of the Public Defender's Office of Rio de Janeiro and the collectives Rua Solidária, JUCA - Juntando os Pacos com Arte and Cozinha Solidária Claudia Queiroga, which also promoted the distribution of meals and water to people in situations of extreme vulnerability.

The goal of the initiative was to provide some protection to homeless people, who are even more vulnerable this time of year with the arrival of cold weather. "I congratulate Flamengo on this very important, vital initiative. With the pandemic, we had to roll up our sleeves. The world stopped for solidarity, and Coletivo Rua Solidária is the culmination of several projects to meet the emergency needs of the homeless population, who live on the sidewalks because hunger and cold are in a hurry," said Vânia Rosa, founder of Coletivo Rua Solidária.

Also present at the event was the illustrious fan Marcelo Nuba, Flamengo's "Anjinho" (Little Angel), who throughout the month of June held a charity football match at the club to collect coats and blankets for the CRF's Clothing Drive. 

In addition to the homeless people in the city center, the Clothing Drive promoted by Flamengo also donated blankets to those assisted by the Clube do Paraplégico, a non-profit organization that works with people with disabilities and extreme social vulnerability, in Piedade, in the north zone of Rio.
