The morning of this Wednesday (14) was one of celebrations at Flamengo. This is because the red-black athletes who won medals at the Paris-2024 Olympics were honored at the event “The Pride of Two Nations”, held at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium, at the Gávea headquarters. Gymnasts Rebeca Andrade, Jade Barbosa, Flavia Saraiva and Lorrane Oliveira, canoeist Isaquias Queiroz and judoka Rafaela Silva were present to receive the tributes, posed for photos and met the press.

The event was attended by approximately 800 people, including fans, athletes from various sports, executives, and president Rodolfo Landim. Distinguished guests, such as brothers Daniele and Diego Hypolito, also attended Mengão's Olympic medalists.

Singers MC Rebecca and Léo Jaime hosted the party in the gymnasium. The six athletes received personalized plaques from President Rodolfo Landim, bearing images of the medals won in Paris. The club's president addressed the Olympic medalists.

"We're thrilled with you all. The comeback in gymnastics bronze, Rafaela's stunt, and Isaquias's sprint all bear the red-and-black mark. We cheer you on every day. We have before us the greatest Olympic medalist in Brazilian history, and the second greatest medalist as well," said Landim.

Jade Barbosa, the most experienced athlete and the longest-serving member of the club - since 1997 - among the red-and-black medalists, was moved by the tribute and was surprised by the number of people in the gym.

"I always dreamed of this moment, but I never imagined it would be so special. We fought so hard, that sometimes we even doubted it would happen. But it's much more than the medal. It's mainly the people I've shared this journey with. Every little face reminds me of a special time. I love being a Flamengo fan. I can't imagine Jade without Flamengo. If it weren't for this club and these people, I wouldn't have found myself again. I'm proud to say that the history of gymnastics is intertwined with the history of Flamengo. I want the sport to transform the lives of many more people," said the gymnast.

Rebeca Andrade, Brazil's all-time Olympic medalist, won a gold, two silvers, and a bronze at Paris 2024. She said she was thrilled with the honor and feels like a powerful figure in the club, the country, and the world.

"I was very happy with today's tribute. It was a very special moment for us, as a team and individually. I feel like a very strong, very important symbol here at the club, for my country, and for the world as well. Today, people know what gymnastics is and know the girls from Brazil. For us, this is something very big, so I'm truly honored by all our achievements," said the Olympic floor champion.

Judoka Rafaela Silva also spoke about the pride of representing the club's colors and thanked them for being so well received.

"I was the last to arrive at the club, in 2021, but I was very well received by everyone. Flamengo is my home. I'm very grateful for everything the club has done for me. Wearing the jersey is a great honor," celebrates Rafa.

Flamengo had 12 representatives at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In total, the red-and-blacks won six medals: one gold, three silver, and two bronze. If Flamengo were a country, it would be ahead of nations like Argentina, Mexico, and Switzerland in the medal tally.
