In partnership with the NGO Indefesos, Flamengo's Social Responsibility Department carried out another awareness campaign for the adoption of abandoned animals. This time, the campaign took place during a volleyball match played last Thursday night (9) against Fluminense at Tijuca Tênis Clube. The campaign's objective was to draw public attention to the vulnerability of animals, raise awareness about the fight against cruelty and abandonment, and demand effective public policies. In total, 14 abandoned puppies, including one with a disability, entered the court with the Sesc Flamengo volleyball players at the start of the match.

The NGO Indefesos was founded in 2017, but the group has been working in animal rescue since 2013. Basically, the volunteer work consists of rescuing, recovering, and enabling the adoption of abandoned animals with safe and responsible homes.

"Events like Flamengo's are crucial for giving visibility and credibility to our cause. Many people feel insecure about helping because they can't go to the shelter or don't know if the work is truly serious. So, an initiative with a major club encourages volunteer work, motivates people to get to know us and even adopt, and also encourages the initiative of individual protectors," said Mariana Oliveira de Souza, a volunteer with the NGO Indefesos.
