With the support of children from the Instituto Sempre Movimento project, in Rocinha, and volunteers from SOS Lagoas and Carpe, Flamengo planted 22 seedlings of native restinga species on the banks of the Marapendi Canal this Friday (390), helping to revitalize the area and maintain local biodiversity.

The initiative is the result of "Pé de Gol," an environmental education initiative through which the CRF plants 10 trees for every goal Flamengo scores in the Brazilian Championship. The area chosen for the initiative was a degraded and irregularly occupied region. With the planting, the area was revitalized and transformed into a large community center, with species planted within the agroforestry concept, respecting the integration of humans and the environment.

"The planting initiative with Flamengo gave the children in the 'Craques da Rocinha' program the opportunity to experience something they'd never had access to before, fostering new perspectives beyond the back alleys. Planting is an initiative that touches on several strands of children's development, especially in the favelas. Being with Flamengo made the magic happen. They are fanatical about the club," said Amanda Costa, impact manager at Instituto Sempre Movimento, who participated in the initiative with her children.

The action is the result of Flamengo's partnership with the KM Solidário app, UltraCoffee from Tal da Castanha, Carpe, the SOS Lagoas movement and the Barra da Tijuca Subprefecture.
