Feeling good is essential in the fight against cancer, but the complexity of treatment often makes this difficult. With this in mind, Flamengo's Social Responsibility department visited the breast cancer unit of the National Cancer Institute (INCA) in Vila Isabel, Rio's North Zone, last Wednesday (18) to carry out an initiative aimed at women with breast cancer. About 50 women, including patients and their companions, received makeup and hair styling from a team of professional makeup artists. The goal was to strengthen self-esteem and confidence through self-care, helping them overcome the side effects of treatment and remain strong in the battle against cancer.

Also present at the event were mascot Binho, who took photos and spread joy among the patients, as well as staff from the Flamengo Museum who, throughout the month, held a drive to collect milk cans and scarves for INCAvoluntário, the social arm of the National Cancer Institute, at the Cancer Hospital III Unit. In total, 150 milk cans and 52 scarves were donated, which will be distributed to vulnerable families assisted by INCAvoluntário.

During the event, Mais Querido delivered a shirt autographed by the professional football team.

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer affecting women worldwide. An estimated 2022 new cases are expected in 66.280, and the Pink October campaign aims to share information and raise awareness about breast cancer. This way, we can contribute to reducing the incidence and mortality rate of the disease, following the Ministry of Health's recommendations for prevention, early diagnosis, and screening.
