Launched by Flamengo on Friday night (6), the Flamiguinhos channel reached 40 thousand subscribers in less than 72 hours on air, with more than 371 thousand views of the first five musical cartoons until Tuesday afternoon (10). A recurring topic on social media throughout the weekend, the project launched by the club in partnership with Grajaú Filmes was highlighted in the main publications of the national sports market. Flamengo is currently the only club in the country that has a production of children's cartoons with exclusive themes and songs.
Mais Querido's Vice President of Communications and Marketing, Gustavo Oliveira, praises the videos that are already a hit on the web.
"All children's content must reflect Flamengo's values. For these reasons, we're not surprised by the engagement and numbers since its launch. We can already see from fans' comments how much the videos and songs move and truly represent the nation. Now the love for Mengão, which runs deep in Flamengo's hearts, will be even stronger in the hearts of young Flamengo fans," said the director, accompanied by Caetano Marcelino, the club's Broadcast Rights Manager.
"The Flamiguinhos channel was a demand we identified, and in partnership with Grajaú Filmes, we were able to deliver high-quality content to our fans. More than that, we were also able to represent the full diversity of our fan base. Valuing this plurality, it's no coincidence that the characters are different and complementary. And all of this reflects the dimension of the Red-Black Nation," celebrates Marcelino.
"The numbers exceeded our initial expectations, and the strong engagement of the Nation has already led to the channel having a large volume of subscriptions and views. With the next cartoons and songs, which are already being produced and will be aired in the coming weeks, we hope to maintain this engagement, which has been surprising not only on the Flamiguinhos channel on YouTube, but also on social media," says Wagner Corrêa, partner at Grajaú Filmes.
One of the channel's biggest hits, the song "Daughter, Do You Want to Know?" touched the hearts of Flamengo fans. On Twitter, one of the club's most active social media platforms, there were many emotional accounts from the "grown-ups." "I remembered my childhood watching a game with my dad," commented @Lika_Rasoli. "I felt connected in a unique way," reinforced @Feeh_Ponce. And @inacio_ferreira added, "I had a childhood, what I didn't have was Flamiguinhos."
The song's author, composer André Diniz, who has written award-winning sambas for Rio's Carnival, considers the project one of the highlights of his career. "Along with 'Festa no Arraiá,' the 2013 Vila Isabel winning samba, Flamiguinhos is the concrete realization of a dream, inspired by my daughter and my father," emphasizes Diniz, a Flamengo fan with extensive involvement in club-related initiatives, such as the 1995 album of songs celebrating Flamengo's 100th anniversary, in which singer João Bosco performed "Centenário da Paixão," a song written by Diniz.
Alongside his career as a musician, Diniz has been a history teacher for 30 years. "Alongside my partner Wladimir Corrêa, who is also a teacher, we strive to compose with sensitivity and care for children, without losing the joy," he notes.
The song "Daughter, Do You Want to Know?" is another tribute from Diniz to the greatest football idol of the red-and-black era, Zico. Diniz also composed the song "Zico 60 Years." "Together with my partners Arlindo Cruz and Bocão, paying tribute to the Galinho on his 60th birthday is one of my greatest prides as a red-and-black fan."
Another hit from the Flamiguinhos channel, the song "Flamengo Lá no Fundo do Peito" highlights that "the address doesn't matter" to be a Flamengo fan. One example is little Henrique Rosso Gomes, 6 years old, born in Alegrete, Rio Grande do Sul, and the only Flamengo fan among his schoolmates - as he makes a point of telling his father, Felipe Gomes, a 33-year-old Rio native and Flamengo fan, who has lived in the south of the country for 15 years.
Henrique "plays" the little gaucho who appears in the video. "When he recognized his own voice in the song, he was happy and showed it to his cousins. My wife, who is a Colorado fan, and I were moved," says Felipe. The song features audio from children from all over the country and the world. "Henrique and I have this connection: every Flamengo title we take a picture of, ever since he was in his mother's womb." Felipe says the Flamiguinhos came at the right time. "Henrique identified with them right away; he knows you don't have to be from Rio de Janeiro to be a Flamengo fan," he says proudly.
Among hundreds of emotional accounts, André Diniz sums up the feelings of Grajaú Filmes members and club partners on the channel. "It's rewarding to see people expressing their love and gratitude for their parents, and also remembering those who have passed away," Diniz notes. "I'm proud to have had partners like Jorge Aragão, Martinho da Vila, and Dudu Nobre, among so many others. Seeing this project air with such a vibrant response is one of the highlights of my career," he concludes.
