Jorge Bichara has taken over as technical consultant for Clube de Regatas do Flamengo. The former Sports Director of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), a department he led for 17 years, was responsible for the country's best performances at the Pan American Games in Lima in 2019 and the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021. Bichara also serves as technical director of the CBAT.

"Flamengo's responsibility to Brazilian sports only grows. In addition to talent detection, we are committed to an efficient Sports School, high-quality sports initiation, the transition and development of young players, and raising funds for high-performance sports. We want Flamengo to always be at the top of the podium. Furthermore, our bar in the Olympic Movement has been raised. We want more medals in Paris. Bichara was a great mentor to the Brazilian Olympic Committee in several Olympic cycles. His consultancy will bring new investment and training channels. We will get closer to the best in the world. Flamengo's Olympic sports will increasingly add value to justify its reputation as the Pride of the Nation," said Vice President of Olympic Sports, Guilherme Kroll. 

Bichara is 53 years old, has a degree in Physical Education from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a postgraduate degree in Sports Administration from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation. 

Bichara explained that, as a consultant, he will assist the club in individualized work with athletes with potential for success in the Pan American and Olympic Games. 

" I came to add my experience to a fabulous team that already exists. Flamengo is an Olympic powerhouse, and I believe my experience working with this qualified team can help the club further improve its performance. We will also work on identifying talent, thinking not only about Paris 2024 but also about future editions. I've already found qualified management, where the department can remain self-sustainable, and this helps us operate independently of football. We will strive for more achievements for a club that embraces such immense passion," said Bichara. 

"The result in Tokyo was already very good, but a club as great as Flamengo has the potential to increase that number. We're going after more medals in Paris. I can't help but emphasize the importance of CUIDAR by providing services related to sports science. This is essential work so that coaches can receive information to get the best out of each athlete. I will dedicate myself, heart and soul, to ensuring that Flamengo continues to evolve and grow even further. We are a powerhouse," he concluded.
