From July 6th to 8th, the Flamengo Museum's Educational Department, a department of the club's Vice-Presidency of Historical Heritage, participated in the XNUMXst Museum Education Meeting in Cachoeira, Bahia. The event was held by IBRAM (Brazilian Institute of Museums) at the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB). 

Flamengo was present at the event with educators Guilherme Andrade and Monalysa Sarmento, who shared their experiences since 2019 with visiting schools, athletes, projects, and others. The team's presence strengthens the educational work carried out at Gávea, as Guilherme Andrade points out: 

"The participation of the Flamengo Educational Museum in EMUSE is essential to understanding the direction in which the work is being taken. Today, we can say that Flamengo contributes to the field of Museum Education, and its headquarters is a cultural centerpiece of the city of Rio de Janeiro," he states.

The Trilha do Urubu tour program has already welcomed over 10 people by 2022 and its main mission is to communicate the club's history, always contextualizing it with the transformations of the country and the city and using sports as a pedagogical tool. The goal is to broaden dialogue with society, promote sports practice, and the use of cultural resources. 

The meeting featured several leading figures from the field, including IBRAM president Fernanda Castro. Castro described the work carried out by the Education team and the preservation of the memory of a sports club as "very interesting." According to Castro, this encourages others to follow suit, given the organic immersion of sports in society. 

In the spotlight, she says:

"The I Emuse marked the resumption of IBRAM's dialogue with society in a face-to-face forum that promoted meetings, exchanges, and important reflections on public policies for museum education and social museology. We emerged with important steps toward strengthening the sector, with a commitment to shared management, aiming to increase the promotion and maintenance of museums and Memory Points, as well as training and professional development," he states.

In addition to the president, the event also included the participation of the secretary of the Culture Committees of the Ministry of Culture (Minc), Roberta Martins, the head of the Technical Office of the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN), João Gustavo, among other representatives from the public sphere.  

EMUSE hosted museums and memory institutions from across Brazil and organized panels, courses, paper presentations, and debates on the PNEM (National Museum Education Policy). According to Monalysa Sarmento, "Our presence at this event allowed us to stay up-to-date on debates surrounding museum education, including training and professional development in the field. Furthermore, we were able to meet education professionals from other museums across the country, promote our work, and understand that we are on the right track."
