With support from Banco BS2, master sponsor of the professional football team, and on the initiative of Flamengo's Social Responsibility department, Several "nests" were set up this October for book exchanges. To participate, simply leave a book and pick up another one that is inside one of the "nests" which were posted around the Gávea headquarters and at the George Helal Training Center.

What are Book Nests?

The "little houses" were created by children from social organizations together with their idols Adílio, Mozer and Julio Cesar Uri Geller and are part of a project called “Ninhos de Livros”.

The facilities function like a small collaborative library: people meet on the streets, take one book, and leave another. The idea is to promote the habit of reading, especially among children, understanding that reading is an effective way to stimulate creativity, develop critical thinking, and improve vocabulary, among many other benefits.

1. Corner of Humberto Campos Street and Afrânio de Melo Franco Avenue (Leblon)

2. Our Lady Help of Christians Square, in front of the CIEP Nação Rubro-Negra (Gávea)

3. Borges de Medeiros Avenue, close to Baixo Bebê (Lagoa)

4. Near the entrance to CT George Helal (Vargem Grande)

5. Gávea headquarters, near the bike rack, at the entrance to Rua Gilberto Cardoso (Gávea)

The Book Nests will remain in place until the end of 2019.
