Clube de Regatas do Flamengo congratulates the decision of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall to expropriate the Gasômetro land, in the port region.

Mayor Eduardo Paes' decision recognizes the public interest involved and provides a very important step in the realization of the project to build Flamengo's own stadium, a dream of the entire Rubro-Negra Nation.

Flamengo's board is fully aware of the importance of this project both for our club and for the revitalization of one of the most traditional areas of our city.

Our project calls for a huge financial investment in the site, capable of helping transform the entire region surrounding the new stadium, significantly increasing the value of the area and delivering a new, modern space for both entertainment and commerce to our city.

The city and all the people of Rio will win. Flamengo and the entire Red-Black Nation will win.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mayor Eduardo Paes and Federal Deputy Pedro Paulo for the sensitivity they have always shown regarding this issue and for their entrepreneurial and positive vision regarding the economic and social development of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
