The Board of Directors of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo hereby makes public, in light of news published on 11.10.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX by journalist Venê Casagrande, regarding a joint Letter sent by the other Powers of the Club to the President of this Board of Directors, to clarify the following.

 

Initially, it's regrettable that an internal document, restricted to presidents in power, was leaked to the press with clear electoral intent. Measures like this constitute not only a political attack on the president of Flamengo, but an institutional attack on Flamengo itself.

 

The political-electoral motivation of the Letter becomes even more serious when it is verified that the aforementioned document is signed by a candidate for election to the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors, notably, the current Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Luiz Eduardo Baptista, who uses the position for purely electoral purposes, having no credibility to raise any question.

 

In the aforementioned Official Letter, the signatories state that “have become aware, through the most diverse means of communication”, that the Chairman of the Board of Directors would be “incurring expenses or intending to incur them, including in the areas of assets and football, which may contravene budgetary and fiscal responsibility rules”, further revealing the absence of any basis for the accusations and insinuations that are being made, especially when saying that such facts were known through the media, without even determining what these allegedly irregular facts or expenses would be.

 

The administration exercised by President Rodolfo Landim has always been guided by budgetary and fiscal responsibility, all of his accounts were subject to external audit and there was never any non-compliance with the statutory norms, especially those imputed in the aforementioned Official Letter, which, it should be repeated, was unduly brought to public knowledge.

 

The Office in question goes so far as to question the conclusion of contracts of “provision of football services”, which, ultimately, would mean preventing Flamengo from participating in the “mid-year window”, which never happened and was not questioned by other Powers in the Club's history, which reinforces the impression that there is a clear intention to harm and disrupt the Club's management in the final stretch of the championships.

 

It is important to note that this type of questioning was not asked, for example, in 2021, when two of these presidents of Power already occupied the aforementioned positions and the others were vice-presidents of power, despite the fact that, in that mid-year window, athletes and coaches were hired.

It's worth mentioning that Flamengo is a club that hasn't paid a single debt, whether it's taxes, employees, or suppliers, late, which further increases the Board of Directors' surprise regarding the initiative.

 

Likewise, there is no irregular expenditure in the "assets" area, which is clearly an undue challenge to the purchase of land for the construction of Flamengo's future stadium, which was duly authorized by the Club's Deliberative Council in a historic meeting, with a favorable vote from over 600 members. The Club's decision, made through the Deliberative Council, was to build the stadium and cannot be changed under any circumstances, even if a current President or presidential candidate opposes the idea.

 

Finally, it should be clarified that all expenses and actions taken by the Chairman of the Board of Directors were carried out in strict compliance with the statutory rules of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo. The Club has been executing its budget within the established target and respecting the limit set forth in Article 146, Section III, of the Bylaws, which reveals the interference discussed here to be even more inappropriate.

 

For these reasons, the Board of Directors publicly repudiates the content of the Joint Letter, signed by the other presidents of the Power, with a clear political intent, recording that all expenses and acts of the Board of Directors and its President were carried out in strict compliance with the rules provided for by law and in the Social Statute of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo.
