Clube de Regatas do Flamengo believes in a football that excites, unites, and inspires, and that can be experienced with passion and respect, on and off the field. Therefore, it reaffirms its commitment to fair play, civility in the stands, and the right of all fans—home and away—to experience the stadium as a space for entertainment and social interaction. 

At Maracanã, Flamengo welcomes fans of all clubs with respect. The mixed zones, where Flamengo fans and visitors watch matches together, are proof that it is possible to coexist peacefully, with different jerseys and the same love for football. Flamengo does this out of conviction, not obligation. Because it believes football should be celebrated. 

Unfortunately, what we saw at Castelão, in the match between Fortaleza and Flamengo, goes against this spirit. 

The pricing policy applied to the visiting sector was incompatible with the principle of equality: while tickets for Fortaleza fans cost R$60 (full price) and R$30 (half price) at Maracanã, the red-and-black fans paid, on average, R$231,95 at Castelão — a value that meant that the visiting fans, even though they represented only 24% of the public, were responsible for more than 70% of the total revenue of R$2,7 million. 

Furthermore, during the game, an unfortunate incident demonstrated how much progress still needs to be made. A Fortaleza fan harassed and embarrassed two spectators wearing only black shirts—without protesting or provoking—accusing them of being Flamengo fans. Both were eventually removed from the area, a complete disregard for the spirit of sportsmanship. 

It is necessary to promote a fairer, more welcoming and civilized football. 

Flamengo does not accept setbacks and will continue to defend Better Football, on and off the field.
