Clube de Regatas do Flamengo regrets that, at a time when we are celebrating great Brazilian football matches and, especially, our qualification to the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil, we have the sad record of violence and disrespect against Flamengo fans and journalists who cover the club. 

Unfortunately, that's what we saw in our game this Wednesday, in the city of Curitiba, against Athletico Paranaense.

At the entrance to the Arena da Baixada, red-and-black fans were forced to take off their shoes to enter the stadium, including elderly men and women, not to mention the seizure of accessories that do not pose any risk and that have always been allowed in stadiums, without the same search of the home fans in return.

Around the Arena da Baixada, Flamengo fans were met with aggression and objects were thrown, an action that was repeated against our athletes on the field throughout the match.

After the game, a journalist was intimidated and threatened by professionals or people equally accredited by Athletico Paranaense, while he was doing his job, without having had any offensive behavior that would justify such an attitude.

Late in the evening, in a restaurant in Curitiba, Athletico Paranaense fans expelled a red-and-black family, with women and children, from the place, with brutality and racist remarks.

It is deplorable and unacceptable that there is still room for this type of outdated conduct in Brazilian football.

Flamengo will request that the CBF and the competent authorities take appropriate measures to punish those involved and to ensure that this type of behavior is banned from our football.
