Due to its grandeur and cultural significance, the Flamengo Regatta Club plays a crucial role in transforming society. This Wednesday (29), through an initiative by the Historical Heritage Department, children from the NGO Recriando Raízes, from Costa Barros, visited the clubhouse and experienced unforgettable moments. The outing is part of the Visita RJ program, run by the Rio de Janeiro State Government, through the Department of Sports, Leisure and Youth.

Josiane Xavier, known as Tia Jô, representing the Secretariat, spoke about the work being done by the government and the children's excitement at getting to know the club. 

"We're taking children from communities and NGOs and taking them to see government spaces and their partners. Today they visited Maracanã Stadium, and soon after, we brought them to Gávea. The initiative is designed to help them regain hope and see that they have opportunities. Through this work, we reintegrate and care for them so they don't end up on empty paths and wandering through the communities," said Tia Jô. "They are delighted. They are 13, 14-year-old children who were thrilled with the opportunity. They are boys and girls who cried with joy here on the trip and today, when they get home, they won't be able to sleep. I talked to them and they still think it's a dream to know a club like Flamengo," he concluded. 

"Flamengo, through its Historical Heritage program, has been organizing visits and bringing groups to learn about the club's history. It's a way to maintain Flamengo's culture by exploring the club's facilities. In addition to teaching more about the club, we also explain the sports, which allows children to learn about Flamengo from a different perspective, realizing that the club offers other sports. This is the main point: we want to teach young people much more about the true importance of the club," said Monalysa Sarmento, an employee in the Historical Heritage department at Clube de Regatas do Flamengo.
