Maracanã will host a major awareness campaign this Thursday night (October 2nd), when Flamengo hosts Cruzeiro in the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship. On the field and in the stands, the "Mais Querido" team is joining forces with partners to promote a series of actions in support of Pink October, the month of breast and cervical cancer prevention. It will be the starting point for the union between sports and health, promoting information and care.

Hair, Love & Passion: highlights that transform lives

One of the highlights is the traditional "Hair, Love, and Passion" campaign, organized by Flamengo's Social Responsibility department, held in the stadium's Lower North sector in partnership with Espaço Léo Lopes da Gávea and with the support of Hapvida and Solutions. Fans can cut locks of hair at least 20 cm long for free and donate them to be used to make wigs for cancer patients.

The campaign aims to strengthen the self-esteem of women and children in times of vulnerability, showing that solidarity and passion for Flamengo go hand in hand.

Welcoming and overcoming on and off the field

Flamengo will take to the field wearing a special uniform for the occasion: both the Betano and Hapvida logos will be personalized with a pink ribbon on the players' jerseys. The captain will also wear a special armband with the phrase "Nação da Saúde" (Health Nation). Off the field, cancer patients will share their stories of overcoming challenges in videos that will be shown on the big screen during halftime. FlamengoTV will host a medical specialist for a live interview on the topic before the game.

Accessible mammography: Laço Rosa Foundation truck parks at Maracanã

Expanding access to early diagnosis, the Laço Rosa Foundation's mammography truck, in partnership with Betano, will be parked at gate 9, near the stadium's South sector, offering mammograms. To participate, women over 40 who have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months must register in advance and free of charge at mamografiasalva.com.br. Women under 40 years of age, under clinical indication, will also be able to have a mammogram.

The initiative is part of the "The Bond that Unites Us is Self-Care" campaign, which is providing 3 free exams in various cities across the country throughout October. Nurses will be present to provide guidance on self-examination and the importance of early diagnosis. Fans at Maracanã Stadium will also watch a video of Adriane Galisteu inviting women to take the exam, as the truck will be parked at Maracanã Stadium until October 4th.

Rede D'Or takes patients and professionals to match day of Pink October

Another emotional moment will be played out by oncology patients from Rede D'Or, who will take to the field to warm up alongside professionals from the institution, displaying a banner supporting the campaign. The group will participate in match day and will have his victory lap recorded by Flamengo TV, bringing a message of hope to everyone present.

Maracanã illuminated in pink

To contextualize the opening night of Flamengo's Pink October, Maracanã will be lit up in pink before the match, drawing everyone's attention inside and outside the stadium to the cause worked by Flamengo.

About Flamengo's Social Responsibility

At Flamengo, Social Responsibility isn't a matter of isolated actions, but rather a continuous movement that unites Education, Social Inclusion, Sustainability, Health, and Quality of Life. Each initiative represents our commitment to transforming realities and reinforces the club's role as an active agent in building a more just and sustainable society.

Simple actions, such as donating hair, performing a self-exam, or learning about mammograms, can save lives. This Pink October, the Red-Black Nation shows that it's possible to combine passion for soccer and health care, on and off the field.
