Rubro-Negro Historical Heritage carries out exchange in São Paulo
The Flamengo Museum's Educational team visited institutions in search of references
By Communication - Flamengo - inThe club's Vice President of Historical Heritage, through the Flamengo Museum's Educational team, recently held an exchange in São Paulo with several departments related to sports heritage and memory. The initiative aimed to identify key projects in the field, such as the Football Museum, and to broaden the perspectives for building sports memory, interacting with the public, and establishing a close relationship with professionals from the institutions involved.
"The opportunity to travel to São Paulo and learn about the work methodology of the Education Departments at the Football Museum and the Pinacoteca was enriching for maintaining and improving my work at Flamengo's Education Department. The opportunity also allowed us to visit the memory centers of the São Paulo clubs, which carry out work similar to ours, and to forge connections with these teams," stated Flamengo researcher Monalysa Sarmento.
The team's immersion focused on the Football Museum, a space for learning about and promoting the sport, which has won numerous awards for its educational and accessibility programs and has become one of the leading references in the field.
Ialê Cardoso, coordinator of the Education Department, explained how this interaction took place.
"In February 2020, we enthusiastically received an email from Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, proposing a technical visit to the Football Museum to learn about and share experiences on museum education, team management, mediation, accessibility, and research, all while structuring its Educational Center. In March, the COVID-19 pandemic began, and our meeting had to be postponed. In January 2022, after two years of waiting, we were able to make this meeting possible, which took place at the Football Museum. It was two days of enriching exchanges with the Educational Center and the Brazilian Football Reference Center, which left us with a desire for continued dialogue and future joint initiatives. May good results be achieved!" said Ialê.
"The initiative of the Vice President of Historical Heritage to establish this exchange is fundamental to consolidating our work. The ultimate goal is always to serve the public in the best possible way, and to achieve this, we need to understand how recognized reference works are carried out, hence the choice of the Football Museum. Now we have the responsibility to improve our engagement with the public based on the lessons learned during the exchange," added Rubro-Negro researcher Guilherme Tardelli.
The relationship established with the clubs visited by the Rubro-Negro Historical Heritage team was also of great importance. The collaborators were warmly welcomed by Santos Futebol Clube, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, and Associação Portuguesa de Desportos, where it was possible to draw parallels between the work carried out by the São Paulo clubs and professional ties.
Another important exchange and learning experience was the technical visit to the Pinacoteca de São Paulo, a museum of great importance for its projects welcoming diverse audiences and offering extensive educational programs. The seven-day exchange will undoubtedly yield new insights, enhancing the value of the work delivered to fans, which is already considered excellent in Brazil.
