Position regarding the note published in Ancelmo Gois' column in the newspaper O Globo
By Flamengo Regatta Club - inClube de Regatas do Flamengo hereby vehemently repudiates allegations of alleged illegal acts contained in a news article published this Tuesday (26), in Ancelmo Gois' column in the newspaper O Globo, and reiterates that the current management is unaware of any illegal practice of this type. Through the aforementioned article, the Club became aware that a lawsuit for compensation was filed by the company Anexa Engenharia, based on an unfounded allegation and unaccompanied by any evidence, that a third, unidentified person, who claimed to be "influential with the club's board", was asking for a "monthly allowance" to maintain a contract.
It's worth noting that the accusation was made against a third party, who, absurdly, was not identified by the complainant, who allegedly presented himself as influential to Flamengo's board. Therefore, it was extremely surprising and uncomfortable that an accusation against a third party, whose name was withheld, was published, as if it were made against club officials. There was a material error in the statement by attributing the accusation to the board, when it was someone who claimed to be connected to the board, which is quite different.
All Flamengo signings follow a strict policy of compliance and confidentiality, the Club having bid for the aforementioned contract, as the aforementioned company admits in the lawsuit, winning the contract by offering the best proposal. However, the Club terminated the contract with Anexa in December 2019, after realizing that the previously contracted services had not been provided satisfactorily, even though Flamengo was up to date with payments. In other words, we are clearly facing an opportunistic attack by the company, stemming from its resentment over the termination of its contract due to the mere failure to fulfill obligations assumed and not fulfilled.
Therefore, based on the principle of transparency, which guides the management's actions, Flamengo will launch an internal administrative inquiry and thoroughly investigate the accusations made to clarify who is representing the club and anything else that may be useful in clarifying the case.
All facts uncovered in the internal administrative inquiry will be duly disclosed so that the Club's members can have full and unrestricted knowledge of everything Flamengo did. If any irregularities are discovered, those responsible will be duly punished.
In view of this, Flamengo hereby clarifies that it will require the attached company to indicate the person and prove the facts alleged in the initial petition, under penalty of civil and criminal liability, in view of what appear to be unfounded and serious accusations made frivolously and with the clear intention of tarnishing the good name and image of the Club.
It is worth noting that Flamengo regrets the fact that the press published a note in a widely circulated newspaper based on an unidentified complaint against a third party, as if it were directly attributed to club directors, without the Club having been given the right to express itself beforehand.
Finally, Flamengo wishes to clarify to the general public that, although obvious, no one is given the right to speak on behalf of the board of directors and the Club, without presenting special powers for this purpose, through a power of attorney or other legal instrument appropriate for this purpose.
