Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (“Flamengo”), in light of the information that Vasco da Gama SAF (“Vasco”) and Sport Club Corinthians Paulista (“Corinthians”) have decided to file a lawsuit with the Superior Court of Sports Justice (“STJD”) against the decision of the Brazilian Football Confederation (“CBF”) to invert the base date for the second leg matches of the semi-final stage of the Copa do Brasil with the matches of the 30th round of the Brazilian Championship, hereby publicly expresses itself in the following terms:

1. Initially, it is regrettable that Vasco and Corinthians attempt to use the Sports Court to distort its function and seek their own benefit, in total disregard of the principle of equality and equal sporting conditions that, according to the regulations, should govern the competitions;

2. As is widely known, considering the FIFA Date (October 07th to 15th), several players from the semifinalists will play in the World Cup Qualifiers and will only return to their clubs between October 16th and 17th, on top of the date of the Copa do Brasil semifinals, so that the inversion of the base date of the Copa do Brasil matches with those of the Brazilian Championship not only favors the balance of the competitions but also the equality between the participants, in addition to guaranteeing a spectacle worthy of the final stretch of a knockout competition, which will certainly attract more audience, increase box office revenue and greater attractiveness for sponsors and broadcast rights holders.

3. Unfortunately, what we're seeing is that these clubs felt aggrieved by not being able to play a decisive stage of the Copa do Brasil against opponents completely missing their key players, due to mandatory call-ups. It's worth noting that Vasco and Corinthians don't point to a single loss to their teams, but simply the fact that their opponents will no longer be harmed by the absences, thus enhancing the competition itself.

4. With all due respect to Vasco and Corinthians, the requests addressed to the STJD, however, are shown to be unfounded in their origin, as they do not withstand a simple consultation of the General Regulations of Competitions 2024 (art. 5, item I) and the Specific Regulations of the 2024 Copa do Brasil (art. 39, §1), both published by the CBF and which had the adhesion of the clubs.

5. These two provisions included in the aforementioned regulations leave no doubt that the CBF has the discretion to develop and modify the schedules for the competitions it organizes. Furthermore, Article 1, §39, of the 2024 Copa do Brasil Specific Regulations clearly states that the schedule may be subject to changes due to any modifications made by the South American Football Confederation ("CONMEBOL"), as has happened.

6. The CBF, in a letter addressed to Flamengo, Atlético Mineiro, Corinthians and Vasco, motivated the inversion of the table due to changes promoted by CONMEBOL in its game calendar (Libertadores and Sul-Americana), which has priority over national competitions.

7. If that were not enough, the CBF, in an impartial, isonomic and democratic manner, questioned the four clubs that will play the semi-final matches of the 2024 Copa do Brasil about the inversion of the table, with Flamengo and Atlético Mineiro giving a positive signal, Corinthians giving a negative signal and Vasco giving a solution different from the one put to the vote, which generated the agreement of the majority of those involved (2 against 1).

Therefore, in view of the clarifications provided above, Flamengo praises the decision taken by the CBF and reinforces its commitment to ethics, equality and balance in competitions.
