President Rodolfo Landim raises Flamengo's flag as 2019 Rio de Janeiro champion at FERJ headquarters
By Communication - Flamengo - inThe 2019 state champion flag raising ceremony was held on Monday morning (5), at the headquarters of the Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation (FERJ), in the Maracanã neighborhood. The red-black flag was raised by president Rodolfo Landim, to the sound of the Flamengo anthem, played by the Rio de Janeiro State Military Police band.
The traditional event takes place annually after the State Championship and marks the replacement of the previous champion's flag with that of the current one. The 2018 winner, Botafogo, had its flag replaced with that of Flamengo.
FERJ president Rubens Lopes gave a speech emphasizing the Mais Querido's dominance in the state, highlighting the club's 35 Rio de Janeiro state titles, the most trophies in the tournament. The club's president then addressed the audience and thanked the director for his words, emphasizing the importance of the state title.
In addition to the winner of Series A, the champions of the lower divisions were also honored and had their flags raised: América (Series B1), Nova Cidade (Series B2), Mageense (Series C), Cara Virada (Capital Amateur) and Liga de Carmo (Leagues).
