On World Oral Health Day, celebrated on March 20, Flamengo opened its doors to 50 children from social projects located around the club. The event, which took place at the rowing club's headquarters, is part of the Champion Smile program, a partnership between Social Responsibility and Guto Ferreira, the Coordinator of the Youth Football Dental Department. The goal of the initiative was to raise awareness about the importance of oral health while providing opportunities for learning and fun.

As part of the initiative, the children received a lesson on dental care and participated in a guided brushing session with dentistry residents, who demonstrated proper oral hygiene techniques, highlighting tooth and gum care. At the end, the children received kits containing a toothbrush and toothpaste from New Dental, a supporter of the initiative, as well as snacks and Flamengo cups. 

"These initiatives are extremely important, primarily for the education and culture we can instill in children's lives. They also allow us to assess the quality of their brushing, in addition to distributing the kits because, unfortunately, not all children are able to replace their oral hygiene kits every three months. Unfortunately, the toothbrush is often shared by the entire family. So, in addition to the children having access to the kit, they were also supported in brushing and given a guide," said dentist Guto Ferreira.

The children participating in the action are students of the social projects Tênis na Lagoa and Quadras do Futuro – Vidigal and Rocinha units, which work with tennis and volleyball, respectively, in the region close to the club.

"The talk was incredible, raising awareness about oral hygiene for our children. Highlighting this topic is excellent for encouraging them to want to take care of themselves from a young age. Flamengo's opening up to the children in our project is extremely socially inclusive; it's an act of love," said Alexandre Borges, Coordinator of the Tennis in Lagoa Project, followed by Pedro Fiuza, Coordinator of the Quadras do Futuro Project. "The Quadras do Futuro project believes this type of initiative is incredibly important, and we were thrilled to be invited to participate in the event where our children learned about oral health. Congratulations to Flamengo!" he concluded.
