On Tuesday (26), Flamengo, together with students and teachers from the Escola Municipal Jornalista Brito Broca and the Projeto Social Formiga Verde, both from Morro da Formiga, planted 500 trees in the Parque Municipal Chico Mendes, located in the West Zone of Rio. The action is the result of Pé de Gol, an environmental education project from Flamengo's Social Responsibility, which plants 10 trees for each goal scored by Flamengo in the Brazilian Men's and Women's Championships. 

In the action, seedlings were planted in native species of the Atlantic Forest, considering 50 goals scored by Flamengo in national competitions, up to the date of the organization of the action.

"With these seedlings, we are revitalizing and reforesting an area of ​​the park that was previously devoid of plants. It's a very important project; we are the lungs of this area, and this is a way to maintain the fauna and flora," said Valeria Martins, director of Chico Mendes Municipal Park. The entire planting process was technically supervised by the Perma Lab Institute.

Present at the planting were athletes Diego Lombardi, from judo, Jucinara, left back from women's soccer and the mascots Binho and Urubão, who planted many trees, interacted and took photos with the children.

This is the third year of Pé de Gol, which has already planted 1.690 trees in degraded and preserved areas, thus contributing to environmental conservation and the fundamental role of trees in generating food for animals and producing oxygen.
