Last Monday (5), Flamengo, with the support of 5th grade students and teachers from the Jornalista Brito Broca Municipal School, and the players of the women's soccer team, Thaisa Moreno and Daiane Medeiros, planted seedlings of native Atlantic Forest species in Parque do Martelo, which is located in the South Zone of Rio. The initiative is the result of "Pé de Gol", an environmental education project through which the Mais Querido plants ten trees for each goal scored in the Brazilian Men's and Women's Championship. The objective is to contribute to the reforestation of the area and the maintenance of local biodiversity.

The event also provided a morning of intense learning and connection with nature for the 38 students present, who enjoyed contact with soil, water, seeds, and worms, planting alongside the athletes and the club's mascots, Binho and Urubão. The entire event was coordinated by the Permacultura Lab Institute.

"Environmental education initiatives are important and urgent because they foster reconnection and bonds between these children and the biodiversity around them. When we know, we care, and when we care, we care. Planting native trees, in addition to contributing to the restoration of Rio de Janeiro's Atlantic Forest, promotes encounters and play in contact with nature, highlighting the power and impact of collective actions," said Clara Trevia, project coordinator at the Permacultura Lab Institute.

It's worth noting that "Pé de Gol" is in its second year, having promoted the planting of 790 native restinga species along the banks of the Marapendi Canal in the city's West Zone. This initiative contributes to the revitalization of the area and the preservation of biodiversity.
