In a degraded area, with impoverished soil that was used for many years as pasture, Flamengo planted 470 trees last Monday (30), with the support of young people and volunteers from the NGO Onda Solidária, from the municipality of Santana do Deserto, in Minas Gerais. The action is part of Pé de Gol, an environmental education project of the CRF's Department of Social Responsibility, through which 10 seedlings of native species are planted for each goal scored by Flamengo in the Brazilian Championship – Men's and Women's Football.

In total, Mengão scored 87 goals in the 2022 season and, a first planting, totaling 400 trees, had already been carried out in Parque do Martelo in September last year, when the club had scored 40 goals.

"This area really needed human intervention to enable regeneration as close to natural as possible, following the ecological succession of species. With shade and artificial perches, natural reforestation will occur here. Humans need to understand that we are not isolated from the environment. And there's no better way to learn than through practice, getting your hands dirty, observing the species, and understanding each one's function. Actions like these offer young people a new experience, greater socialization, and environmental awareness," said Natani de Oliveira dos Santos, the environmental manager who led the planting initiative with the young people from the NGO Onda Solidária.

With the planting of the trees, the "Flamengo Forest" will be created, a wooded space for locals to relax, socialize, and connect with nature. Finally, it's worth noting that in its two years of existence, "Pé de Gol" has already promoted the planting of 1.660 native species in areas of environmental degradation, contributing to the revitalization and maintenance of local biodiversity.
