Recicla Nação: Flamengo, Soul Ambiental and Gastromotiva use sustainability to fight hunger
The project will collect waste in Gávea and allocate recycling resources to pay for meals for people in vulnerable situations.
By Flamengo Regatta Club - inDisposable cups and bottle caps aren't trash: they're solid waste that, when recycled, can be reintroduced into other production cycles, generating financial resources and helping feed the hungry. Through the Recicla Nação project, an initiative of Flamengo's Social Responsibility department in partnership with Soul Ambiental and Gastromotiva, the Club will install plastic cup and bottle cap collection points at its Gávea headquarters, as well as four official Flamengo stores that will also have bottle cap collection points. All proceeds from recycling this material will go toward paying for meals for people in situations of severe social vulnerability.
With the support of members, staff, and visitors, the club hopes to ensure that recyclable materials are correctly disposed of in the collection bins, ensuring greater recyclability and reducing the use of natural resources. The cleaning team will take the cups and bottle caps to the collection area, and the materials will be collected by Soul Ambiental.
The funds will then be used to fund meals produced by Gastromotiva, a social organization that works to combat food waste and insecurity by providing meals to homeless and vulnerable people. This is sustainability in the fight against hunger and environmental education at the service of the fight against social inequality.
Initially, the initiative will be held at the Gávea headquarters (for cups and bottle caps) and at four official stores (for bottle caps): at the Gávea club, at Barrashopping, at 113 Rua Buenos Aires - Centro, and at the Nova América mall. In the future, there are plans to expand the project to Maracanã stadium once the public returns to "Recicla Maraca."

Harnessing the power of gastronomy since 2006, Gastromotiva works to reduce food insecurity by providing meals to homeless and socially vulnerable people. Through Gastromotiva, volunteer cooks prepare meals, following strict hygiene standards learned in Gastromotiva courses.
