The first weekend of August marked the return of the Copa Fla Rio, the regional competition of the world's largest network of soccer schools, Escola Flamengo. With 12 units and over 500 participating students, the championship returned after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19.

There were 44 teams divided into the under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 categories. The tournament was divided into two days, with 84 matches, and was held at Casa Shopping, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

This was just the first festival of the competition, which will return to Casa Shopping on September 17th and 18th. The date of the grand finale, which will be held in Gávea, will be revealed in the coming months.

The Fla Cup wasn't just on the field: in addition to the games, which were attended by Mauro Longo, Flamengo's technical observer, and Waltinho, Flamengo Schools' technical observer, the event featured a dance class, an official Flamengo School store, a challenge with parents on the field, and the distribution of gifts.

With an audience of more than 1.800 people during the tournament weekend, the Copa Fla had as its grand champion the Flamengo Éden unit, which won three of the six categories, in addition to a runner-up position.
