By Leonardo Pimenta - in
Isac and Bartnik closed out the third round of the Flamengo tennis circuit with great skill. In a technical match, Isac Gomes's experience and improved physical form prevailed. The champion defended well and capitalized on his chances to win the first set with a tight 6-4 score. In the second set, Bartnik suffered a physical problem and retired from the match trailing 4-1.
In the first-class category, Tito Pires-Sarnicola (Saga Tennis) confirmed his strong form with a victory over Ailton Ginuino. The first set started evenly, with Ailton leading 5-3. Tito managed to gain momentum and turned the match around, taking the set in a tiebreak. In the second set, the Uruguayan dominated from start to finish, closing it out 6-0. It was Tito's third victory over Ailton this season and his third consecutive title. The champion will compete in the Fla-Gávea Finals as the favorite.
Arthur Gruenbaum and Carlos Henrique (Projeto Tênis na Lagoa) played a thrilling match. With more experience, Arthur took advantage of Carlos Henrique's errors to win the first set, which he managed to easily reach 6-2. In the second set, Carlos mastered his shots and gave Arthur no chance, closing out the match at 6-3. In the third and decisive set, the two played a game that thrilled the crowd. The title went to Arthur, who had one fewer error and closed out the match at 7-6.
In the third class, Fabio Maciel (Team Flávio) relied on Marcelo Grecco's withdrawal to secure the victory. He was leading 2-1 in the first set when Grecco suffered a calf injury. He even sought help from a physiotherapist but was unable to return to the court. Lilian Fernandes and Vitória Almeida (Projeto Tênis na Lagoa) decided the women's category. In a tight first set, Vitória triumphed 6-4. They also dominated the second set, winning 6-2.
Fabiana Abreu and Felipe Lopes (Professor Hélio Gilard) closed the program. Fabiana won the first set with all her skill, but Felipe came back with great authority. Lopes won the second set 6-0 and the third 6-2.
There were over 200 games, plenty of excitement, and plenty of tastings at Cervejaria Ferdinander from the first weekend onwards. In November, we'll have the Fla-Gávea Finals, featuring the top eight teams from each category!
