In a thrilling match, Vanessa Galera defeated the fierce Fabiana Abreu and took the top spot in the women's rankings. Vanessa started the match in devastating fashion, reaching a 7-1 lead, but Fabiana resisted and fought back. Abreu closed the gap with a 7-5 lead, but Vanessa managed to close out the match.

The two are training partners, and Fabiana had won their last match, a part of the 2023 Fla Gávea Circuit. Still tired after the victory, Vanessa said that her matches with Fabiana are always very good and with lots of exchanges. She praised her opponent's consistency and stated that she needs to give it her all to have a chance against Fabiana.

Vanessa trained at the Yacht Club when she was younger and competed on the college circuit in the United States. These days, she balances work with caring for her daughter Helena and training with her husband, Rafael Franco.

"Now we have many women playing here at Flamengo, and that makes me happy. My daughter's time will come, and I hope the club continues like this for many years to come."

Fabiana praised Vanessa's technique and believes the two are improving significantly together. The next duel promises to be a great one, and the winner is Flamengo's tennis. The club's women's ranking still has outstanding players such as Andrea Pontes, Lilian Fernandes, Eva Nocen and Adriana Cunha.
