In partnership with the International Sports Museums Association (ISMA), of which Flamengo and Benfica are members, a technical visit to the Mais Querido's Historical Heritage was conducted, facilitated by the Portuguese club's Director of Cultural Heritage, Inês Mata, who is also responsible for the construction and administration of the Benfica Museum - Cosme Damião. Opened in 2013, the museum is an international reference in restoration, conservation, mediation, and archival technologies.

The Flamengo Museum, which is scheduled to open in the coming months, is the result of years of gradual work, as explained by Rodrigo Saboia, the club's Historical Heritage Manager:

"In 2013, when I arrived at the Historical Heritage department, the initial idea was to restore Flamengo's main trophies, which were in a state of disrepair and lacked adequate storage space. Another challenge was structuring the department to meet basic needs, such as organizing, preserving, and disseminating our institution's rich history. From that moment on, the opportunity arose to take over the Fla Experience exhibition in Gávea, which we later renamed Fla Memória. This enabled us not only to recreate the Vice-Presidency of Historical Heritage but also to obtain resources and our own budget, which culminated in the development of the department with a technical team of young professionals practically trained in-house over the years. They include museologists, historians, archivists, educators, tour guides, and social workers, divided into four areas: History, Museology, Document Management, and Education at the Flamengo Museum. This combination, combined with the partnership with MUDE (an expert in building sports museums), made it possible to develop the Flamengo Museum project, which is a long-standing institution. a dream nurtured since 1976, as former advisors tell us," said Saboia.

The visit allowed for an exchange of cultures and crucial information for this new phase Flamengo is entering. Ines commented on the importance of preserving the memory of a sports club with a multi-sport tradition, such as Flamengo and Benfica.

"The history and social relevance of sport, clubs, athletes and fans is part of a common heritage that should help us find common ground and define ethical values ​​for the future," he said.

The Real Madrid and Porto Museums were also visited. The visits aimed to align the Flamengo Museum's vision with successful experiences in the preservation and dissemination of the history of sports associations. The Historical Heritage Museum was able to expand its expertise in addressing the challenges of scientific dissemination, education, and cultural mediation, as well as the stages and processes of museum curation in institutions that encompass so many spheres of culture, geography, and even the civic constitution of the spaces they occupy. João Victor Conde Kelly, researcher and consultant for the Historical Heritage Museum, explained this.

"The assertive management of Flamengo's Historical Heritage, with the integration of sectors such as History, Museology, Document Management and the Flamengo Museum's Education, allows the Museum to be not only a necessary monument for the maintenance and exaltation of tradition, but a cutting-edge instrument in the insertion of the club, its members and its fans in the practice of participatory citizenship in the city, state and country in which they are located," he said.

The opening of the Flamengo Museum represents an even more special tribute to the memory of the club, its athletes, their achievements, and, most importantly, its fans. In addition to building and promoting memorial sites, the Museum will become a prominent feature of the official tourist itinerary of the City of Rio de Janeiro, attracting tourists from all over the world. Rodrigo Saboia added:

"Together with our partner MUDE and the support of Flamengo's entire Board of Directors, we are building a modern, impactful cultural facility that will be a source of pride for the Red-Black Nation," he concluded.
