Brazilian sports achieved a significant victory this Monday, the 14th. The Chamber of Deputies unanimously approved the bill that makes permanent the Sports Incentive Law (LIE), a fundamental mechanism for fostering sports projects throughout the country. The proposal, which now awaits consideration in the Senate, also increases the percentage of income tax deductions allowed for companies from 2% to 3%.

The vote was closely monitored by the Brazilian Olympic Committee and representatives of the sports community, including Flamengo's director of Olympic sports, Marcus Vinícius Freire, representatives of confederations, Olympic and Paralympic athletes, clubs, members of the COB Athletes' Commission and several professionals from the sports sector, who mobilized in Brasília to support the cause.

Maintaining the LIE guarantees the continuity of policies that, in 2024 alone, benefited more than 15 million Brazilians with projects that promote health, social inclusion, and citizenship through sports. In 2023, the sports industry generated approximately R$183,4 billion—about 1,69% of the national GDP.

As the bill heads to the Senate, the Brazilian Olympic Committee reinforces its commitment to the development of sports and celebrates this advancement as a milestone in the consolidation of a public policy that transforms lives and moves the country forward.
