“It was a good start to the cycle”: Karol Gimenes wins silver at the European Judo Open

Flamengo's judoka represents the Brazilian national team and is already looking ahead to the season's next challenges.

Last Saturday (22), Karol Gimenes shone on the mats of Warsaw, Poland, and won the silver medal in the women's light heavyweight category (up to 78 kg) at the European Judo Open. Representing the Brazilian team, the Flamengo athlete demonstrated grit and technique throughout the competition, securing a place on the podium and starting the new Olympic cycle with a great result.


After the victory, Karol celebrated her performance and highlighted the importance of the tournament for the challenges ahead:


"It was a good start to the cycle. Now it's time to keep working toward the next challenges. I'd like to thank Flamengo, my training partners, and my coaching staff. Let's go for more!"


In addition to Karol, her Flamengo teammates Dani Karla and Kauan Jorge also represented the Brazilian national team in the tournament, competing in their respective categories.


The judokas' next major challenge will be the Tashkent Grand Slam in Uzbekistan, from February 28 to March 2. The competition will bring together elite judo athletes from around the world and will be a valuable opportunity for the Brazilian team to gain points in the international rankings.
