The moment of truth has arrived for Leonardo Leite. The CRFlamengo judoka leaves this Friday (May 4) for Belo Horizonte (MG), where he will compete in the Judo World Cup, the last selection before the official definition of the team that will represent the country at the Rio-2007 Pan American Games.

The competition will take place on the 6th and 7th and will be followed by an international training camp. A total of 16 countries will be competing on the mats.

A standout for the red-and-black judo team, Leonardo Leite will be competing for a starting spot on the Brazilian national team alongside Luciano Corrêa from Minas Gerais. The team's announcement will be made on the 11th, following evaluations by the CBJ (Brazilian Judo Confederation) technical committee.

At the peak of his physical fitness, the judoka is confident he has a good chance of securing his spot on the national team. Training daily at an intense pace, Leonardo will be in action on Monday the 7th.

The red-and-black team represents the light heavyweight category (-100kg) and will face significant challenges in Belo Horizonte. The teams from Germany, Argentina, Aruba, Cuba, Colombia, the United States, Slovenia, Ecuador, France, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela also have strong judokas in the Rio de Janeiro category.
