Around 900 athletes from 54 clubs were at the Gávea headquarters this weekend (May 26 and 27) to compete in the Rio de Janeiro Judo Trophy. The competition, which was worth the state ranking for 2007, was held at the Togo Renan Soares gymnasium in Kanella.

Gama Filho University was the big winner, with a total of 54 medals (25 gold, 13 silver, and 16 bronze). In 2nd place was Reação Community Judo, with 59 medals (19 gold, 13 silver, and 27 bronze). Flamengo, the host of the competition, finished in 3rd place, with 45 medals (14 gold, 15 silver, and 16 bronze).
