Another day of medals and important results for the red-and-black judo team. Last Sunday, the club concluded its participation in the State Championship with 22 more medals in the Senior, U-15, and U-13 categories. The competition was held at the Velodrome in the Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca.

The standouts in the senior category were Joan Oliveira (up to 100kg) and Maria Luiza (-63kg). Both won all their matches and reached the top of the podium. But it was in the U-13 category that Flamengo exceeded expectations and earned praise from the coaching staff.

"We are very pleased with the return of Flamengo judo. Today, we've managed to shine in the support categories. The U-13 category, which is the first category, guarantees development and growth over the years, and the U-21 category, which supports the seniors. This season, we focused on these categories, winning titles and medals, with big names emerging," explains Vice President of Olympic Sports, Guilherme Kroll, promising even more for 2022.

"Next season, we want to focus on the senior category. We've already signed Rafaela Silva and Eleudis Valentin, but we want much more and will continue to pursue it. We are absolutely certain that Flamengo judo is on the right track," he concludes.

It is also worth noting that judokas Daniel Nazaré (-100kg) and Kauan Jorge (-81kg) qualified for the Brazilian Under-21 Championship, which takes place from November 08th to 13th in Pindamonhangaba (SP).
