Flamengo competes in the Brazil Trophy and the National Judo Grand Prix in Belo Horizonte

Flamengo's judo team enters the fray this weekend in two more major challenges of the season. Starting this Friday (07), Minas Tênis Clube, in Belo Horizonte (MG), will host the CBI Troféu Brasil and the CBI Grand Prix Nacional, two of the most important competitions on the national calendar for the sport. With a large and high-level technical team, Flamengo will be represented by 33 judokas, under the command of coaches Renan Moutinho, Murilo Gouveia, Walter Matheus and Rosicleia Fields.

This year's edition of the Troféu Brasil is already making history with a new record of 635 registered athletes, representing 79 clubs from across the country. The National Grand Prix will feature 19 mixed teams, bringing together some of the leading names in Brazilian judo. Among the registered athletes are Olympic medalists and members of the national team who represented Brazil at the Paris 2024 Games, such as Beatriz Souza, Rafaela Silva, Willian Lima, Larissa Pimenta, Rafael Macedo, and Daniel. Cargnin and Guilherme Schmidt.

Flamengo arrives riding high on the excellent results achieved last season. In 2024, with five medals — three of them gold — #FlaJudô was the overall champion of the Troféu Brasil, reaffirming the club's leading role in the sport and the strength of its high-performance project. Now, the goal is to maintain this performance and remain among the top clubs in the country.

The Brazil Trophy begins this Friday, with fights in the lightweight categories, medium lightThe light and medium weight categories will be held, and will continue until Saturday (09), when the finals of the heavier categories will take place. The National Grand Prix will take place on Sunday (09), with mixed team competitions, bringing together men and women in a unified format — a system that came into effect in 2018, following the Olympic model.

Known for their high technical level and strong internal competition, both competitions are breeding grounds for new Brazilian judo talents. Since its creation, the Troféu Brasil has served as a showcase for athletes who have reached the national team, while the Grand Prix is recognized for bringing together the country's main clubs in the traditional team competition.

The fights will be broadcast live on CBJ TV (preliminaries) and on the Time Brasil TV, SporTV and O Tempo platforms (finals).
