Flamengo is the four-time champion of the Rio Judo Cup
Rubro-Negro dominates the competition and wins 72 medals at Arena Carioca 1

Flamengo's judo remains at a high level! Clube de Regatas do Flamengo won the overall title of the 18th Rio de Janeiro Judo Cup, held on October 11th and 12th at Arena Carioca 1 in the Barra da Tijuca Olympic Park. The traditional competition brought together more than 1.200 judokas from 131 clubs and 17 Brazilian states, as well as athletes from Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay, totaling 1.457 matches over the weekend.
With a great performance, Flamengo ended the tournament in the lead, totaling 72 medals — 30 gold, 15 silver and 27 bronze — and securing another ttitle for the club. In addition to the overall victory, Rubro-Negro also won in four classes: Junior (Under-21), with 7 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 6 bronze medals; Cadet (Under-18), with 7 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals; U-15, with 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 4 bronze medals; and Veterans, with 7 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals.
Flamengo's judo coordinator, Murilo Gouveia, highlighted the importance of the achievement and the technical level of the competition.
"Our performance was very good. Despite having four players missing from the main team, — Rafaela, Giovana, Carol and Marcelo, who were with SeleBrazilian Action —, we managed to conquer all classes, with exception"The Senior and U-13 teams are part of the Copa Rio program. The Copa Rio has the logistics of an international championship, and this provides athletes with a very rich experience. It's an opportunity to mature, competing in an event with a high-level structure and facing opponents from other states and even other countries," the coordinator assessed.
Murilo also celebrated the club's sequence of titles in the competition.
"An important point I always emphasize is that we maintain our dominance in winning the Copa Rio Internacional. This is the fourth consecutive year that Flamengo has won, and this becomes an additional motivation for all of us to defend this title," he added.
With this new achievement, Flamengo reaffirms its hegemony in judo and continues to be one of the main powers in the sport in the country.
