The CRFlamengo judokas who represented the state of Rio de Janeiro in the Brazilian Junior Judo Championship, held in Cuiabá this weekend, did not perform well.
Jorge Conti (pictured), one of the standouts of the red-and-black dojo and a great prospect for Brazilian judo, finished in 2nd place. The judoka, who represents the up to 66kg category, injured his left elbow during the World Cup competitions held two weeks ago in Belo Horizonte and was ultimately affected.
Another Flamengo standout who didn't fare well was Osvaldo Pereira. The welterweight athlete finished 5th in the competition.
There was a surprise in the light heavyweight category (-100kg) with Marcelo Curty placing 3rd. The judoka had been inactive and recently returned to training under the guidance of coaches Jomar Carneiro and Rosicléia Campos.
