Another brilliant performance by Flamengo judoka Leonardo Leite. After securing a silver medal, which tasted like gold, at the Judo World Cup in Belo Horizonte, the judoka confirmed his good form by securing a bronze medal at the Senior Pan American Judo Championships, currently being held in Miami, USA.

Leonardo, who represents the -100kg (light heavyweight) category, defeated Diego Ochoa (ESA) in the first fight and ended up losing to Argentina's Eduardo Costa. In the repechage, Leo secured a spot in the bronze medal match by defeating Arturo Martinez (MEX).

However, the red-black's opponent in the fight for bronze, Jose Camacho, from Venezuela, was unable to fight due to a cracked rib.

The Senior Pan American Judo Championships will be held until May 12th. The individual competitions will be held on the 8th and 9th, and the team competition will be held on the 10th. So far, Brazil has won four gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal.
