Leonardo Leite wins duel against Mario Sabino and qualifies.

The best-of-three competition was not an easy one for CRFlamengo judoka Leonardo Leite. The athlete participated in the National Olympic Trials, held this Saturday (24/11), in Uberlândia (MG), and secured his spot on the Brazilian judo team for the Beijing 2008 Olympic process.

Leonardo, in the light heavyweight category (up to 100 kg), faced Mario Sabino in three tough clashes \ which went to golden score (extra time), winning two of the three fights by referee's decision.\

The first round ended in a golden score tie, with one koka each. The refereeing decision was ultimately awarded to the red-and-black team. In the second match, Mario Sabino prevailed in the golden score, winning by wazari.

The fight went to the golden score again in the third and final light heavyweight division duel. Once again, by referee's decision, Leonardo Leite defeated his opponent, securing his spot on the Brazilian judo team.

In the Selection, 13 judokas guaranteed participation in the Brazilian team for the Beijing 2008 Olympic process.
