Rubro-negro wins gold at the Masters Judo World Championships

Flamengo judoka wins gold medal and becomes world master champion.

Hamilton Corrêa, a judoka from CRFlamengo, won the gold medal in the light-medium category (-66kg), at the 9th World Masters Judo Championship, which is being held at the Ibirapuera gymnasium, in São Paulo.

The competition, aimed at judokas over 30 years old, continues until June 24th and has the participation of 1.200 athletes from 53 countries.

Alberto Nogueira de Carvalho, also a Flamengo athlete and representative of the middleweight category, secured the silver medal by beating his opponent from Japan and losing to the American.

The 2007 World Championship is a qualifier for the 2008 Masters, which will be held in Belgium.

In addition to champion Hamilton and runner-up Alberto, Flamengo has the participation of 10 more judokas who will be in action until the 24th.
