Red-blacks do well in the Masters World Cup

Flamengo judokas are highlights at the Masters Judo World Championship.

Flamengo and Brazil are being very well represented at the 9th World Masters Judo Championship, which is being held at the Ibirapuera gymnasium, São Paulo.

In the first two days of competition, the red-and-blacks Hamilton Corrêa and Graciela Klachquim won gold medals in their weight classes, while Alberto Nogueira de Carvalho secured bronze after being defeated by the US judoka. The bronze medal went to Ezio Nóbrega Júnior.

The competition, aimed at judokas over 30, runs until June 24th and features 1.200 athletes from 53 countries. The 2007 World Championships in this category are qualifiers for the 2008 Masters Championships, which will be held in Belgium.
