The next challenges for national judo are about to begin. The Brazilian Senior Championship will be held on the 28th, a qualifying event for the 2008 Beijing Project Selection. The Brazilian Championship will run until September 30th in Brasília (DF).
On October 6th, at the Esporte Clube Pinheiros gymnasium, in São Paulo, the 2008 Beijin Project Selection will be held. On that occasion, CRFlamengo will have three judokas representing the colors of the flag: Rodrigo Artilheiro (champion of the Brazil Trophy – heavyweight category), Jorge Conti (junior Pan-American champion) and Ricardo Ayres (champion of the Brazil Trophy – lightweight category).
Leonardo Leite, a standout from the red-and-black dojo, has already pre-qualified for the second qualifier, which will be held on November 24th, at a location yet to be determined by the CBJ. The judoka, who is in the light heavyweight category, is a member of the Brazilian national b team.
After these events, the technical committee of the Brazilian Judo Confederation will define the team that will represent Brazil at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
