After winning 13 medals at the 2007th Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2008, Brazilian judo continues its quest for more victories. Judokas are now preparing for the Brazilian Senior Championship, the World Championship, and the first qualifier for the XNUMX Beijing Olympic Games.

Approximately 800 judokas from 120 countries will compete in the 25th World Judo Championships, which will be held over four days in Rio de Janeiro. Besides being one of the most high-profile events, the World Championships will qualify the top five in each weight class for Beijing 2008.

The team that will represent Brazil in the 2007 World Championship will be announced by the CBJ technical committee by early September. The spot will be decided between two athletes in each category.

The 25th World Championships will be held between September 13th and 16th, at the Jacarepaguá Racetrack.

The Brazilian Senior Championship, which was scheduled for August 3, 4, and 5, has been postponed and will only be held between September 28 and 30 in Brasília, Federal District. Due to the postponement of the Brazilian Championship, the first qualifier for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games has also been changed. The competitions will be on October 6, with the following athletes participating:

Holder of the under-23 team, Member of the Junior Pan-American, Junior Brazilian Champion, Senior Brazilian Champion and Champion of the VI Interclub Brazil Trophy, and nominated by the CBJ Technical Committee to fill the sixth spot.
