Judoka Leonardo Leite (-100kg) won his first challenge at the Senior Pan American Judo Championships, currently being held in Montreal, Canada. He defeated Diego Ochoa of El Salvador.
The Brazilian had no trouble defeating Ochoa. After 39 seconds of fighting, Leonardo scored an ippon on his opponent and will now fight for the gold medal in the light heavyweight division.
The fight for gold will be against Cuban Oreidis Despagne, current Pan American champion in the sport and bronze medalist at the 2003 World Championships.
