Red-and-black artistic swimming athletes return to training in Gávea
Mais Querido's first big challenge will be the State Technical Routine Championship

This week, the red-and-black artistic swimmers, who were still on vacation, returned to training in Gávea and began preparing for the upcoming competitions this season. It's worth noting that they join the red-and-black athletes pre-selected for the Brazilian National Team, who have been training since January 9th.
In 2018, the Mais Querido teams shone in the pools across all categories. In the State Championship, Flamengo took the title, winning 34 medals in total. In the Brazilian Championship, the year's main competition, the Gávea girls continued their dominance. The Junior and Senior teams once again performed well, taking the national title for the club, with the Junior and Youth categories finishing in second place.
Coach of the red-black Senior category and the Brazilian National Team, Roberta Perillier commented on the return of all athletes to training and the expectations for this year.
"We're back to training at full speed. Our goal in these first six months is the State Technical Routine Championship in the middle of the year. Initially, the idea is to prepare the choreography for all the technical routines, which are formed with the technical elements. The Junior team may have the largest number of athletes this year. In the Senior team, most of the girls will be called up by the Brazilian National Team to compete for spots in the World Aquatics Championships and the Pan American Games in Peru. So, I believe this will be a year with a lot of training focused on these competitions, where I hope our athletes win many medals for Flamengo and Brazil," analyzed Beta.
In the second half of the year, the red-and-blacks that make up the national team will compete in the World Aquatics Championships, held from July 12th to 28th in Gwangju, South Korea. Immediately after the championship, the Brazilian delegation will head to Lima, Peru, where the 2019 Pan American Games will be held.
The artistic swimming teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – Banco Bonsucesso, Furnas, Estácio, LafargeHolcim/Cimento Mauá, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), in addition to support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources originating from the Pelé Law.
