Multiple synchronized swimming champion Roberta Perillier spoke exclusively to the official website about the choreography Flamengo developed this year. Competing in the State Championship, the "Mais Querido" arrives with reinterpretations of previous songs, as well as new additions that promise to excite the stands.

"This year's choreographies have very diverse themes. This was very interesting, as it gives us the opportunity to bring in different movements. The Senior category features the coaching staff's routine with the theme 'Robot.' We wanted to incorporate very square and geometric movements into the choreography. Despite this, the performance was very dynamic, fast-paced, and interesting. Our free routine, which has no mandatory elements, features the 'Vikings,' theme, which is heavier and stronger. We tried to bring in a story, something older. We used the soundtrack from the film 'King Arthur,' which is very rich and provided wonderful choreography," explained the red-and-black coach.

Regarding the creation of the choreography, Beta explains that everyone helps during the process. "We always choose the theme and then find the music. With the 'Robot' theme, it worked the other way around, but with 'Vikings,' we've wanted to do it since last year and managed to find a soundtrack that fit the idea perfectly. The girls always help with the creation, especially because they go swimming. So I always try to share with them. I always draw what I want beforehand, so we can talk together and develop the movements," she said.

"For the Junior team, we're going to use a very interesting theme that we used in the Senior team in 2014, which is 'A Thousand and One Nights.' We're performing it with the same soundtrack, but changes have been made to the choreography. It's a very feminine theme, with an odalisque, very different. In the solos, Maria Clara Lobo will perform the theme 'Medusa,' which is very difficult for a solo, but it's strong and fast, very different from what she did last year, which was slow, flexible, and docile. Giovana will swim the technical solo this year with a French song, 'La Vie En Rose,' which is very much her style: beautiful, very doll-like, pure, and fun," the coach pointed out.

"Our technical duet in the Senior category is the Olympic duo, Lorena Molinos and Duda Micutti, who will swim a choreography we created last year. It's a very strong and good duet, especially because it's a technical routine with mandatory elements. We're going with the theme 'Mess Around,' which is very fun and a super dynamic song. It's a duet that fits with speed and joy. It's a song that gets the crowd going, and it's a joy to listen to. We reinterpreted this performance for this year, and it has more difficult movements," Beta exclaimed.

"Duda Wolf will swim Andrea Bocelli's solo, which is beautiful, with music that touches the soul. It's also a technical solo, one she swam last year, but it's very beautiful, and we did a reinterpretation. Every time we do this, we can change elements and improve the choreography. This makes it more difficult, and we have time to fix what can be done better," she concluded.

The red-and-black athletes are currently competing in the State synchronized swimming championship and are fighting for medals in the pools of Rio de Janeiro.
