The Brazilian women have once again broken new ground. The duo, formed by Caroline Hildebrandt and Lara Teixeira, surpassed expectations and their opponents at the Rome Open in Italy. The competition will be the team's final match before the Rio 2007 Pan American Games.

On the morning of this Friday (1/06), the duo secured 14th place, with 87,200 points, leaving behind teams such as Mexico (84,100) and the United States (84,900), which came in 21st and 18th place, respectively.

Because Russia competed with two pairs, the Brazilians moved up one position, finishing in 13th place. Also this Friday, Brazil will compete in the Team and Technical Routine events. The finals for both events will be on Saturday. The Duet final will be on Sunday, the 3rd.

The Duet was formed after the last World Aquatics Championships, held in Melbourne, Australia.

Caroline Hildebrandt was named the best athlete in her sport at the 2006 Brazilian Olympic Awards. In 2003, Carol and her national team and club partners Gláucia Heier and Beatriz Leite performed well during the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, securing Brazil's first bronze medal (duet and team). Also in 2003, the athlete was ranked in the Top 13 in the world.

The Brazilian synchronized swimming team has the strength and determination of five athletes from CRFlamengo, in addition to coach Roberta Périllier, a red-and-black fan at heart.
