The Brazilian synchronized swimming team, which competed in the Roma Aquatics Tournament in Italy this weekend, achieved excellent results and exceeded expectations. On Friday afternoon, Brazil finished 5th in the technical routine, scoring 44.250 points, once again leaving the Mexicans behind.

In the free routine, which featured the participation of the red-blacks Michele Frota, Caroline Hildebrandt, Gláucia Heier and Giovana Stephan, Brazil also secured 5th place, with 44.850 points. In the final, held on Saturday (2/06), the Brazilians finished in 5th, totaling 90.400 points.

The duo formed by Caroline Hildebrandt and Lara Teixeira gradually surpassed themselves. In the technical duet, the duo secured 14th place with 87.200 points. In the free duet, the same duo finished 13th with 87.800 points. In the final, Carol and Lara surpassed themselves and took 9th place with 89.100 points.

The score is higher than that of the last World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne, in March of this year, when the pair came in 12th place, with 89,000 points.

Brazil competed with the same themes that will be used in the Rio-2007 Pan American Games and the final team should be announced soon after the athletes and coaches return to Brazil.
